A summary of the kit we use on our paranormal investigations

Thermal Scanner

Uses an IR laser to detect the air temperature. Used to detect “cold spots” which are believed to be spirits drawing the energy of their surroundings in order to manifest.

Camera

Both 35mm, digital and camcorders are used. Helps document the area of an investigation and to try and provide proof of the paranorma.

Two Way Radios

Two Way Radios are recommended if the investigation involves splitting in to teams. This way you can easily communicate with the other team.

P-SB7 FM

Created with intent of hearing voices from the departed in real time. The P-SB7 utilizes a milli-second adjustable Forward or Reverse frequency “sweep” technique coupled with a proprietary high frequency synthetic noise or “white noise” distributed between frequency steps. FM and AM frequency sweep equally balanced which includes an additional 119 new frequencies from 76MHz to 87.9MHz from original version.

EMF Pump

Theories suggest that certain energy can provide ‘fuel’ for spirits to communicate with us or manifest themselves. This EMF Pump is a safer way to provide the energy they need. This EM Pump creates a low level magnetic field in varying pulses and frequencies. It starts out producing .2Hz pulse and increases to 256 Hz pulse.

EMF meter

Meters for detecting electromagnetic fields (EMF) are also popular with ghost hunters on the theory that the presence or movement of ghosts might distrupt or otherwise affect this field. There are a number of models to choose from, one of the more popular being the K-II meter. The ghost hunter must be careful when using an EMF detector because many things in a house or building can affect it, such as wiring, power sources and other electronic equipment. Just because you see a spike on the EMF meter doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve detected a ghost.Take base readings throughout the area you are investigating and make note of the numbers.

Motion sensor

How do you hunt something that’s usually invisble? You can try to detect its movement with a motion detector. These gadgets are often used for home security, but the ghost hunter can set them up to possibly detect the movement of something that the eye cannot see. Motion sensors are actually detecting heat signatures. When something enters its field of coverage that is above the ambient temperature. The sensor will sound an alarm. Some models are equipped with cameras and will snap a picture. These sensors are calibrated so that the object must be somewhat sizable to set it off.

The Ovilus III

Takes reading from the environment using several sensors including one for electromagnetic readings and uses a mathematical formula to convert these readings to a number that responds to a certain word that is stored in the word database of more than 2000 words. The Ovilus III will “speak” the corresponding word through its built in speaker and also show it on a built in text display with six lines.

Dowsing rods

Although dowsing rods are not considered useful by all paranormal research groups, many have members who do use them on a regular basis. And they’re cheap; in fact, you can make them yourself. Those who use them say that their movement can help detect the presence of ghosts or cananswer questions to ghosts (like a Ouija board?). For example, the user holds the rods out straight then asks the ghost to move them apart for “yes” or together for “no” to a question. The controversy is: Is it really the ghost who is moving the rods, or is it the user moving them unconsciously?

Laser grids

These are another way paranormal investigators search for ghosts. Investigators who use this device hope the grid of laser beams will make a ghost easier to spot.

TEMP-POD

Temp-Pod automatically sets to the existing ambient nearby temperature baseline. When a temperature change occurs, Temp-Pod will emit a distinct tone for each degree change. A momentary Red (Hot) & Blue (Cold) LED will indicate trend of temperature change. If the temperature increases by 1 degree and remains steady for more than 10 seconds, the sound will automatically Mute until the temperature changes up or down by more than 0.1 degree. Great for working in low light conditions. Arrange several in a grid pattern to monitor a large areas.

Mel Meter – The Electromagnetic Field Radiation Tester or Melmeter

This is a complex and delicate instrument specifically designed to determine the magnitude of electromagnetic field radiation generated by power lines, computer’s monitor, TV sets, video machinery and many other similar devices. Some of the many features include: dual function meter display that show EMF and temperature value at the same time, built in LED glow lamp, records maximum, minimum readings with Recall, LCD display is backlit, data hold capability, fast button used for fast EMF measurement. The EMF field recorded can be read and displayed in either micro Tesla or milli-Gauss units and the sensitivity for hot and cold fluctuations.

Parabolic Listening Device

Complete with a directional microphone. The sound detection system is powerful enough to pick up a human conversation at a distance of 300 feet or more away. You can apply this device to listen for faint disembodied voices or sounds in real time during an investigation or detect noises at a distance. With simple adaptation you can actually record these sounds with a digital tape recorder for later analysis and at the same time listen to them in real time.

The Rem Pod

This utilises a mini telescopic antenna to radiate an independent EM field around the device. It is believed that spirit energy can manipulate, distort, and influence such an EM field. Some REM Pods also have temperature detection and shadow detection.
